James Gilks
opa - my grandad

He was a plumber
Lived in Leamington spa
has one daughter patricia and a son Stephen
Died too soon

I remember sitting on opa's knee and playing with his glasses, he was a jolly soul.
He was taken from us too soon, he had lung cancer and passed away long before his time,
My poor mum was heart broken, she has a half brother Stephen out there somewhere, if anyone knows a stephen Gilks please let me know, i'm sure my mum would love to hear from him.
I wish opa had lived longer so i could have known him better.
The song I have chosen for this eulogy is " oh my papa", my mums song for her dad.

♥ ♥ 'Christmas in Heaven' ♥ ♥ ♥

I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below
with tiny lights like heaven's stars reflecting on the snow.
....
The sight is so spectacular please wipe away that tear
for I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.
....
I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear
but the sounds of music can't compare with the Christmas choir up here.
....
I have no words to tell you of the joy their voices bring
for it is beyond description to hear the angels sing.
....
I know how much you miss me, I see the pain inside your heart
for I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.
....
I can't tell you of the splendor or the peace here in this place
Can you just imagine Christmas with our Savior face to face?
....
I'll ask him to lift your spirit as I tell you of your love
so then pray for one another as you lift your eyes above.
....
Please let your hearts be joyful and let your spirit sing
for I am spending Christmas in heaven and I'm walking with the King.

Love to you Opa

Memory Lane

There is a place in every heart,
They call it Memory Lane,
Where thoughts of loves ones lost
Forever will remain.

God made this special place
When He first created man,
For He knew it would be needed,
As part of our life's plan.

He knew when loved ones left us,
We'd need some time to heal,
To come to terms with sorrow
And the loneliness we'd feel.

So when you lose a loved one
And your life is filled with pain,
The comfort of their presence
Will be found in Memory Lane.

Thinking of you xxx

As The Sun Came Up This Morning
I Watched You There Below
Your Hearts Seemed Oh So Heavy
But There’s Something You Should Know
I’m Not Gone Don’t Worry
I’m Just A Step Ahead
And I’m With You Every Single Day
As You Rise Up From Your Bed
I Am The Sun That Warms You
I Am The Moon’s Soft Glow
I Am The Stars That Twinkle
And Light Your Path Below
So When At Times You Miss Me
Just Look For Me I’m There
For You Cannot Hide My Spirit
It Is With You Everywhere

Daddy Jim

James 'Opa' Gilks was known to me and Kate my cousin as 'Daddy Jim.' We were raised during World War ll and Daddy Jim was the only male relative available to us for many years, hence the 'Daddy' name. Apart from the nickname he really felt to us as if he was our Daddy in acting so, he became so. I have very fond memories of him, especially when he came to visit me and my mother. Both of them would be talking and joking and the laughter that ensued brought us all closer giving us support and comfort during those dreary years.
